The school mapping project is a great way to learn about GIS and GPS. You will create a map of your school and do a quick land-use analysis that can be used in potential future projects.

1. Before You Begin
Begin by viewing either the introductory PowerPoint or Video. Right-click the link and choose "Save as" to save the file(s) to your computer.
2. Gather School Data
We, here at CAST, have assembled a custom GIS data set for each school to download and use. Follow the instructions given in the "Before you begin" presentation in step one.
3. View GIS Tutorials
Also, you CAST support team has developed a set of tutorials to get you through the process. You can select to view powerpoint/video tutorials and choose them based on your GPS receiver and GIS software that your particular EAST lab uses.
4. Download Data Dictionary
You can click here to download a data dictionary for your GPS. Right-click the link and choose "Save as" to save the file to your computer.
