Cotter, AR Used GPS to locate suitable locations to create safe habitats for trout
Emergency Evacuation Landing Zone

Eureka Springs, St Joe, Fayetteville & Alpena, AR

4 high schools collaborated to map existing and potential landing sites for emergency medical evacuation. Created a booklet that is easy to use by helicopter pilots to quickly find the closest landing zones.
Earthquake awareness
Osceola, AR Used GIS to increase public's awareness of earthquake activity in NE Arkansas
Beaver Lake Mapping
Rogers, AR Created a map of Beaver Lake showing places to stay and near by attractions.
Russellville, AR Students worked with the Emergency Management to identify areas that were outside the "Safe hearing distance" of tornado warning sirens. Check out their webpage for photos, maps and more information:

Santa Ynez, CA

19 students used GIS and GPS to locate an aqueduct used 200 years ago. This project won the Geospatial Solutions Fifth Annual Applications Contest.
Bike Rack Location
West Campus High School, Sacramento, CA Mapped the locations of bike racks in downtown Sacramento to increase the public's awareness of alternative transport & therefore decrease traffic & parking problems.
