School Mapping Project
Is a great way to learn about GIS and GPS, while producing data and maps of your school that can be used for later projects. It's also a prerequisite for attending the Geospatial Projects Workshop.
ESRI Virtual Campus
Students have your facilitators visit this page for information on obtaining a license code for these courses. A "code" is required in order to take a course (see your facilitator for the code). Then visit http://campus.esri.com/ to enter an online learning environment through which over 200,000 people around the world have taken GIS instruction.

Defining Coordinate Systems

If you're shapefiles are not lining up correctly, or you have received an error saying that your data is missing spatial reference then you need to Define the Coordinate System that your data is in.

Reprojecting your Data

Sometimes you need to change the coordinate system of your data - for example if it is in Geographic (Lat/Long) and you want to add it to ArcScene or ArcGlobe.
